One-day CPD Programmes

All CPD modules are organised to deliver expert knowledge and the latest developments in key areas of Chinese Medicine including safety procedures, diagnosis and needling. The related patient case studies and many clinical applications will allow students to have more hands –on experience on the subjects. 1.Cosmetic Acupuncture

Overview:
The course teaches practitioners the techniques of cosmetic acupuncture based on Chinese medicine syndrome approach. The module is the basic requirement for entry to the CMIR diploma course on cosmetic acupuncture and Chinese cosmetology. Cosmetic acupuncture is now the fastest developing speciality in Chinese medicine.

2.Chinese Herbal Materia Medica

Overview:
To enhance the clinical effectives of the classical prescription formulation, knowledge of Chinese Herbal Materia Medica is essential. Practitioners of Chinese Medicine can gain a deeper insight into the reasoning behind TCM prescriptions, thus improving their skills in treatment. The module is a basic entry requirement for the CMIR diploma course in Chinese Herbal Materia Medica. The latest research in modern Chinese pharmacology will also be updated.

3.Ear Acupuncture

Overview:
Ear acupuncture is simple effective therapy that is gaining popularity amongst patients combing with electro-acupuncture and body acupuncture. The therapy offers a unique way to help patients with their health problem, such as addictions, obesity and musculoskeletal disorders. Both the Chinese and Nogier versions are considered in this module - a foundation course to the intermediate module.

5.Pulse and Tongue Diagnosis

Overview:
Chinese system of medicine depends on the unique diagnostic techniques perfected by a long history of clinical practice. Pulse and tongue diagnosis are important clinical tools for syndrome differentiation. The pattern of changes in disease development reflects the changes in palpation and tongue picture of the patients. This module will provide a deeper understanding and objective evaluation to enhance your diagnostic technique. The module will also consider some main syndromes relatively to pulse and tongue diagnosis. Our newly installed pulsograph will also be demonstrated.

6.Addiction & Obesity

Overview:
Addiction and obesity, the two common problems for Chinese Medicine and acupuncture treatment will be consider in this module in depth. Addiction includes drug addiction, tobacco addiction, food addiction and alcohol addiction will be discussed. Acupuncture treatment together with electro-acupuncture and Chinese Herbal medicine will be discussed and demonstrated with patients’ case studies. When considering obesity in syndromes, it will be looked at from a holistic approach together with the detoxification concept of Chinese treatment. Both Chinese Herbal medicine and acupuncture, including lifestyle advice will be discussed at the module to enhance effectiveness of your clinical practice.

7.Intermediate Electro-acupuncture

Overview:
This program is designed to build upon the material already given at the CMIR DCM, DCH, DAC diploma course – a part of an advanced CPD programme for practitioners, the module will focus on clinical application as well as research updates. It is an essential module to keep up with your knowledge of modern development in acupuncture and the latest clinical techniques.

10.Syndrome Acupuncture

Overview:
Contrasting with Western medical acupuncture, Chinese acupuncture can be summarised as syndrome acupuncture.
